Heelflip
Heelflip by: Danny W
Heelflips are a pretty basic but fun trick. Before you try to do Heelflips you will want to have down
you Ollie's really good. You should know pop shove its too. Some people think you need to know kickflips first too but I don't
think you need to know them because its a whole different motion. Basically what your doing is your making the board flip
360 degrees around by using the Heel of your front foot. FLIP NOT SPIN!
Setup:
Ok
the setup is pretty basic. have your back foot on the tail. I like to have it on the edge. For your front foot put your heel
all the way to the back of the board (helps get the full spin.) And turn it a little bit. I like mine at a 45 degree angle
right before the front bolts but you may find something else more comfortable.
Doing the Heelflip:
Now
that you have a basic idea of how your footing should be its time to actually learn the trick. I learned this trick while
not moving because I didn't have any room at my house, I would NOT encourage that. It makes it a lot more difficult to get
the trick down while moving. I would recommend moving at a slow pace at first and add on speed as you get them down better.
ok
take a push off. Get your feet into the position where your going to Heelflip, set a place where you are going to Heelflip.
When your almost there its time to pop, as soon as you pop the tail against whatever surface your skating on slide your foot
off the board as quick as you can. Get ready to land really quick.
Problems:
The
major problems that people have while doing Heelflips are a couple of different things.
1. They do not commit: You
have to try to land even if your not going to land it. 2. The board flips too slow: Slide your foot faster. 3. The board
does not go high enough/land too soon: Bend your knees down more.
Those are the major problems. Don't expect to land
these first try.
Good Luck and remember to commit!
I will get a video up soon
